YCAT Vanpool

Through our contractor Commute with Enterprise, YCAT Vanpool provides vehicles to qualifying groups of 7-15 commuters originating, terminating, or travel through Yuma County. Passengers pay a monthly fee covering gas, insurance, and vehicle maintenance costs. YCIPTA provides a $300 subsidy on a first come, first served basis.

How to Get Started

  • Gather a group of at least seven people to start the vanpool. Participants should live and work near each other and have similar work hours. Commute with Enterprise can help recruit riders.
  • All riders must use the vanpool at least three days per week to qualify. The group must have at least seven qualifying riders at all times to be eligible for the subsidy.
  • Vanpool requires one primary driver and at least one alternate driver. All drivers must be at least 25 years old. Primary drivers will go through a driving record and credit record check.
  • Vanpool riders determine the exact route, pick-up times, and drop-off locations.

Vanpool Features

  • Vehicles for 7-15 riders. Bench or luxury seating, bicycle racks and wheelchair lifts are available.
  • The lease cost is divided among the riders and varies by van size, number of riders and miles driven. The lease is paid one month in advance and includes insurance, maintenance, vehicle repair, 24-hour roadside assistance, taxes and registration, and customer service. All vans are insured with no deductible.
  • Vans are leased to the group month-to-month with a 30-day notice required to terminate. Riders pay the primary driver who is responsible for the group's reporting and payments to Enterprise. The subsidy is paid directly to Enterprise by YCAT.
  • Drivers may be allowed to take the van home to use on weekends and after hours with a 250-mile personal mileage allowance at no additional cost except fuel.
  • Guaranteed Ride Home: Commute with Enterprise will help arrange your ride home when emergencies prevent normal vanpool use.

Benefits and Savings

  • Many area employers offer additional subsidies as well as pre-tax savings plans.
  • Primary drivers may be eligible to ride free or at reduced rates.
  • Fuel debit cards are available to manage gas payments.
  • Vans can be serviced through a network of local car care centers.
  • Vanpool riders can meet at various locations in Yuma County.
  • Vanpool usage can provide lower personal vehicle and insurance expenses, reduced air pollution, more free time, and reduced stress.
